فيما أكد الرئيس دونالد ترمب أن الإيرانيين في وضع سيئ للغاية، كشف مسؤول أمريكي لصحيفة «نيويورك بوست» أن الرئيس ترمب مستعد لمنح محادثات السلام فرصة، إلا أنه يشترط أن توافق إيران على وقف إطلاق النار.
وأكد المسؤول الأمريكي للصحيفة أن هذا هو الأساس لأي نوع من المفاوضات، «إنه يبدأ بوقف لإطلاق النار، ويجب أن يبدأ من إيران»، مضيفاً: «يقع على عاتق القيادة الإيرانية ترتيب شؤونها الداخلية».
وأشار المسؤول الأمريكي إلى أن الرئيس ترمب كان واضحاً للغاية في أنه يريد إنجاز اتفاق عاجلاً لا آجلاً. ولكن إذا ظل الإيرانيون يهاجمون السفن، ويهاجمون القواعد الأمريكية، ويهاجمون حلفاء الخليج، فسيكون هناك ثمن يجب دفعه مقابل ذلك.
وبينما تنتظر الولايات المتحدة إظهار إيران استعدادها للتراجع عسكرياً، تتواصل المحادثات من الجانبين عبر فرق تقنية ووسطاء دوليين.
وأفاد المسؤول بأن الهدف من هذه المحادثات هو نوع من «مذكرة التفاهم 2.0»، وهي ليست مطابقة تماماً للاتفاق الأول ولكنها تحتفظ ببعض العناصر الأساسية.
ويواصل ترمب المطالبة بأن يظل مضيق هرمز خالياً من الرسوم، معارضاً فرض إيران رسوماً مقابل المرور.
وكان الرئيس الأمريكي أكد (الجمعة) مجدداً أن الولايات المتحدة تضرب إيران «بقوة»، مشيراً إلى أن الحرب مع طهران «تسير بشكل جيد». وأضاف في تصريحات لشبكة «فوكس نيوز»: «شيء ما سيحدث بشأن إيران» دون أن يوضح التفاصيل.
وقال ترمب للصحفيين خلال اجتماع حكومي في كامب ديفيد، إن إيران باتت في «وضع سيئ للغاية»، مؤكداً أن الولايات المتحدة ألحقت «دماراً هائلاً» بالقدرات العسكرية الإيرانية. وأوضح ترمب أن العمليات التي تنفذها واشنطن ضد طهران تُعد «عملية عسكرية وليست حرباً».
في سياق آخر، قال ترمب إنه لا يعتقد أن إيران مسؤولة عن هجوم إلكتروني استهدف أنظمة المياه في ولاية مينيسوتا الأمريكية. وأضاف خلال اجتماع حكومي: «أعتقد أنني أُلقي باللوم على مينيسوتا لأنها تفتقر إلى الكفاءة بشكل فادح»، منتقداً حاكم الولاية الديمقراطي تيم والز.

The American official confirmed to the newspaper that this is the basis for any kind of negotiations, “It starts with a ceasefire, and it must start from Iran,” adding: “It is up to the Iranian leadership to sort out its internal affairs.”
The American official pointed out that President Trump has been very clear that he wants to achieve an agreement sooner rather than later. However, if the Iranians continue to attack ships, attack American bases, and attack Gulf allies, there will be a price to pay for that.
While the United States waits for Iran to show its willingness to de-escalate militarily, talks are ongoing from both sides through technical teams and international mediators.
The official stated that the goal of these talks is a kind of “Memorandum of Understanding 2.0,” which is not exactly the same as the original agreement but retains some key elements.
Trump continues to demand that the Strait of Hormuz remain free of tolls, opposing Iran’s imposition of fees for passage.
The American president reiterated (on Friday) that the United States is hitting Iran “hard,” noting that the war with Tehran “is going well.” He added in statements to “Fox News”: “Something will happen regarding Iran” without providing details.
Trump told reporters during a government meeting at Camp David that Iran is now in a “very bad situation,” confirming that the United States has inflicted “tremendous damage” on Iranian military capabilities. Trump clarified that the operations being carried out by Washington against Tehran are considered “military operations, not war.”
In another context, Trump said he does not believe that Iran is responsible for a cyberattack that targeted water systems in the state of Minnesota. He added during a government meeting: “I think I blame Minnesota because it is grossly incompetent,” criticizing the state’s Democratic Governor Tim Walz.
